breakfast

they say is the most important meal of the day....but before 10 I can't look at anything except coffee. My new favorite is W.W. bread (2 slices - 1 point yeahhhhhhhhh) with egg salad made with zero fat mayo - I pile on the lettuce and tomatoe...a whopping 3 points and I still feel like I've actually EATEN something....if you can't stand the thought of egg salad -I apologize - I'm an old lady at heart (and about to be much older come March!) New Week - New Focus - we will ROCK!

  1. Hope this works! But not to worry – if my comments don’t reach you, I will eventually hunt you down myself to inflict my opinion.

First things first - Happy Birthday Cami!! You are worth every extra calorie and more :)
Next, Michelle, although I have far more knowledge on the exercise method of weight loss (dieting was never one of my strengths), I was, however, forced to diet during that 6-week bootcamp, so I can share some of the tips I learned that helped me survive it. First: Step Away From The Suzy-Qs.(OK, so everyone already knew that one, but I had a little more difficulty catching on. You laugh, but my trainer was almost floored when I listed some of the crap I thrive on!)
But without going into too much detail: think High Protein, High Fiber. Protein because it not only helps you build and retain muscle (important because having it helps raise your resting metabolism), it takes longer to digest, and helps keep you feeling full longer. And get this - your body burns more calories digesting a protein than any other macronutrient. Pretty cool, huh. (even more cool that I now know what a macronutrient is). Fiber, well, helps to keep you "moving" (in more ways than one!) Like protein, it also helps you feel full, longer. You want to have a balanced diet, but if you fill yourself up first with these, you'll have less room to eat the crap we shouldn't (like sweets). Avoid white flour foods and stick with whole wheat everything (pasta, breads) Those are complex carbs and take longer to digest as well. Didn't know you were going to get a lesson in bowel management, did ya!
The Whey protein shakes that your company sells are great, and yummy! And you probably already know this, but Whey Protein has the highest biological value of any protein - so have one of those shakes immediately following exercise (muscles, muscles!).
For six weeks, I basically lived on Fiber One Honey Clusters cereal, Fiber One bars for snacks, Dannon Lite N Fit Yogurt-only 80 calories-and egg whites. (And Doritos, but I didn't tell the trainer about those).
Now if you want me to chew your ear off (no pun intended) about exercise and the really "fun" part about losing weight, I could go on-and-on about that . . .maybe in another comment section. I am very long-winded, I know (must be all that cardio exercise.) But all this talk about dieting has made me hungry. So Chow -- oops, I mean, Ciao! for now!
