Research studies have found hypnosis to be an effective weight loss tool. In one study, the results indicated that adding hypnosis increased weight loss by an average of 97%. Additionally, hypnosis increased the effectiveness of cognitive-behavioral therapy for weight loss after treatment by over 146%, which means that hypnosis helped make the results last. (Journal of Consulting and Clinical Psychology, 1996). The American Society of Clinical Hypnosis (ASCH), the largest U.S. organization for health and mental health care professionals using clinical hypnosis, endorses the use of hypnosis for weight loss.

Of course, it's a bunch of hypnotists claiming that it works....rather like a car salesman claiming that this baby was only driven on Sundays to church I think. But it makes a valid case in that what we are telling ourselves makes a difference. I know that I start everyday renewed in my want to lose weight - and somewhere along the day I lose focus on that. Can hypnosis hep me keep that focus? Who knows???? Something to think about.
